in LL. Adelstani Regis c. 3. et 7. ex Saxon. hyndene, h. e. societas, sunt homines eiusdem societatis ac contubernu, contubernales. Saxonibus enim in more erat, ut omnem hominem olim aestimarent ac pro natalis sui ratione capite censerent; praeterea secundum cuiusque valorem in classem (vel collegium) parium suorum, quam hyndene nuncuparunt, referrent: trium sc. harum unam, infimam, mediam, summam. Infimae classis erant, qui valerent 200. sol. dicti Thwyhindeman: Mediae, qui 600. sol. Syxhindam; Sum mae, quorum singuli valerent 1200. sol. Twelfhindi. Pariterque uxores eorum Cyrtiscam i. e. Twyhyndam, Syxhyndam et Twelfhyndam nominârunt, Somnerus apud C. du Fresne in Gloss. Vide eandem hominum partitionem, e quibus Twelfhindi, aliter Thani, perfecte nobiles habebantur, praesertim in LL.
